Leslie Cohen began exploring a career as a notary after learning more about the profession from her sister-in-law, who worked as a notary in Arizona.
“All the details of being a notary appealed to me, so I got started in my state and have enjoyed it ever since.”
Today, Leslie is a full-time mobile notary based in Monument, Colorado. She is also Fidelity certified and is experienced in accommodating a wide range of signing needs.
For Leslie, the most rewarding part of being a notary is the people she meets along the way.
“The most rewarding thing about being a notary is the number of people I get to sit down with at either their kitchen table or a meeting place suitable for signing documents. I enjoy our conversations and get to serve them the best I can.”
Leslie understands that flexibility is often critical to ensuring a successful closing. She recalls a time when she went above and beyond to help clients meet a tight deadline.
“There was a time when I was set up to do a RON signing and the technology was ‘down,’ so I had to print the entire documents and head out to meet the signers in person to make sure they got the same day interest rate. My job entails last minute changes and I am willing and able to accommodate any changes needed to be made.”
Professionalism is at the core of how Leslie approaches her work.
“Being professional begins with a smile which is my strong point regardless. Always being kind and understanding is important to me, which is really appreciated with the signers. Organization is a must for being professional and your outward appearance, body language, etc. is critical for gaining trust and doing a good job. Thoroughness is the finisher on all of my signings, making sure everything is correct and the signers are happy with everything. Great communication with my hiring company throughout the process is a huge part of the business so I try to do the best I can!”
