Hao transitioned into real estate appraisal after many years working in engineering. While he valued the technical challenges of that field, he wanted a career with greater independence, flexibility, and control over his schedule.
“This led me to pursue real estate appraisal, a profession that allows me to apply strong analytical skills while maintaining a better work–life balance and spending more time with my family.”
He became a licensed appraiser in 2023 and now focuses on delivering high-quality residential appraisal services throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. His engineering background strengthens his attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to accuracy.
For Hao, the most rewarding aspect of the profession is the freedom it provides.
“What I find most rewarding about being an appraiser is the independence and flexibility the profession offers.”
He is also known for stepping in when clients need urgent support.
“When possible, I reorganized my schedule, completed the reports the same day, and submitted them early to help keep the loan process on track.”
Hao also prioritizes homeowner communication.
“I patiently spent multiple calls over several days explaining the process, clarifying the lender’s requirements, and ensuring they understood the necessity of the second appraisal.”
Professionalism, for Hao, is defined by reliability and clear communication.
“To me, being professional means delivering accurate, objective, and reliable appraisals while communicating clearly and respecting clients’ needs.”
Hao has seen notable development in nearby areas.
“There have been several significant new property developments in the Morgan Hill and Gilroy areas.”
He adds that prices in San Jose have been steady.
“The median home price in San Jose, CA is approximately $1.2–$1.3 million and has remained relatively stable compared to last year.”
