Leslie Liburd’s path to becoming a notary is rooted in both experience and encouragement from others. After retiring in 2015 following a 27-year career, Leslie returned to the workforce just a few months later, taking on roles as an administrative assistant at a Head Start school and later at a non-profit organization. In 2019, she was introduced to the notary profession by a friend who owned a title company in California.
“They were doing their own loan signings and said I should do it in Wisconsin,” she recalls.
Taking that advice to heart, Leslie began conducting signings during the pandemic, eventually transitioning to full-time loan signing work in 2021. Today, she proudly serves clients throughout the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area.
One of the most rewarding aspects of Leslie’s work is witnessing the joy her clients experience during meaningful financial milestones. She compares it to a sense of excitement many can relate to.
“Just like kids love getting toys for Christmas, adults love lowering their interest rates, buying property, refinancing their homes and more,” she says.
Being part of those moments, whether it’s purchasing a new home or improving financial stability, drives her passion for the work she does every day.
Leslie’s dedication to her clients is evident in the way she goes beyond the expectations of her role. She recalls working with a signer who was navigating a difficult personal situation after her husband was admitted to a nursing home. With limited support from her family and snow blocking her garage, the client was unable to leave her home after the signing. Understanding the urgency of the situation, Leslie took the extra step to shovel the snow herself so the client could go visit her husband. This thoughtful act of kindness reflects Leslie’s commitment to ensuring clients feel supported both during and after the signing process.
Professionalism is a cornerstone of Leslie’s approach. She believes it directly influences how clients perceive and trust her.
“It’s important to be professional because people respect you more,” she explains. “It shows leadership when you talk with authority and confidence.”
Her demeanor often leaves a strong impression. Clients frequently ask if she is an attorney or inquire about her level of education, a testament to the confidence and credibility she brings to every interaction.
